Addis
Skatepark

In April 2016, sixty volunteers from over twelve different countries came together in Addis Ababa to build the first skatepark in Ethiopia. Over a period of twenty days, the team worked alongside local skaters and community members to design, mix, and pour concrete, and assemble the structures that would form the park.

The project marked a milestone for skateboarding in Ethiopia, creating the country’s first permanent space dedicated to the sport. Beyond the construction itself, it represented an exchange of knowledge and skills,
with international volunteers and local participants working side by side to bring the park to life.

This series documents the twenty days of construction, from the initial groundwork to the final details, highlighting the collaborative process, the physical labor, and the collective achievement that made the skatepark a reality.
