Recollection

Memory is the faculty by which the brain stores and remembers information. Encoding and storing the information is a task of the subconscious mind, due to the flood of information that confronts one daily, the subconscious mind elects elements of an event, a place, or a face to be retained in memory based on judgement influenced by one’s psychological state at the moment. Memory is therefore fragmented; neither objective, nor whole.

Because of the way memories are encoded and stored, the act of remembrance is described as a reconstruction of elements scattered throughout various areas of the brain.

“Recollection” is an installation that attempts to construct (recollect) a memory of my father that is whole by piecing together its fragments.
